Bruce Wayne has put up his batman suit, for what he thinks is for good, and has decided to focus on all the normal things about his life. He has adopted an orphaned circus performer, a young man named Dick Grayson and continues to expand Wayne Industries.

Elsewhere, a young woman with a bright future and a new degree sets out for a career in psychology is rewarded with seventy two sessions with a very interesting patient and begins to ponder the question "Who's curing who?"

When suddenly and without warning, a new criminal is on the loose, and it seems, following in the Joker's footsteps, bringing bravery into the hearts of Gotham's criminals. With the crime wave rampant, Bruce Wayne is forced to give up his quiet life once more and become batman.
